LAHORE - PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif has said his party is not a friendly opposition rather it the responsible opposition toiling hard for the survival of democracy and political stability in the country. He expressed these views while addressing workers hailing from all the four provinces at his Raiwind residence on Friday. He clarified that PML-N voiced for the Musharraf trial without any feeling to pursue political vendetta and personal grudge. We have demanded trial of Musharraf to uphold the supremacy of law, he added. Nawaz questioned that if an ordinary man and former prime minister could be brought to court then as to why not the army dictator who abrogated the Constitution twice can be prosecuted. Do we want two laws at the same time in Pakistan, he further questioned. Before the address, Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with former governor Punjab Ghulam Mustafa Khar who called on him at the same venue. Nawaz Sharif told him that complete restoration of democracy was the demand of the nation. He said that Charter of Democracy was inked with Benazir Bhutto to fulfill this demand. He said that all attempts to derail democracy would be foiled. He said that sacrifices laid down for the independence of judiciary, media, good governance, rule of law and democracy were the golden chapter of the history. We would not let the sacrifices go in vain, he concluded.
