LAHORE - The Government College University Saturday outshined all other institutions in the Intermediate Examinations 2010. The university bagged overall 10 positions with its student Muhammad Ali Aun having won the overall top position among 141,467 boys and girls. Aun scored 1,041 marks out of total 1,100. The overall second position also went to the GCU student Samran Asim with 1,031 marks. In the Pre-Medical group, all the three positions were bagged by four Ravians. Muhammad Ali Aun and Samran Asim were also the top two position holders in this category while GCU students Rana Adil Farman and Muhammad Junaid Alvi shared the third position with 1,020 marks. In the humanities group, the GCU students clean swept all the three positions. Mubarik Amjad stood first with 957 marks while Imtiaz Afzal got the second place with 944 marks and Hafiaz Aitzaz Ahsan earned third position with 926 marks. In the general science group, the Ravians achieved two distinctions. The GCU student Bilal Faiz was declared second with 962 marks and Ahmed Manzoor third with 956 marks. In the Pre-Engineering group, a GCU student Muhammad Omer was declared second with 1020 marks. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Aftab congratulated the Ravians for showing tremendous results. The vice chancellor said it was the fruit of students consistent hard work coupled with their immense talent that they managed to uphold the GCU tradition of excellence in the times of general social decline.
