LAHORE - PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif has telephoned journalist Omer Cheema and enquired about his health. According to a press statement issued on Saturday, Nawaz has strongly condemned the incident. He expressed his serious concern over the incident and termed it as an act against independence of media. Meanwhile, Punjab CM Sha-hbaz Sharif has also strongly condemned the incident of kidnapping and torture to the reporter Omer Cheema. He demanded of the govt to immediately probe into the matter impartially. He termed the torture to Qmar Cheema as an attack on freedom of press. Moreover, PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that this incident had exposed the real face of the claimants of independence of media and democracy. He said that government instead of condemning the incident and making tall claims for arresting the culprits should immediately nab the perpetrators to ascertain the identity of the real faces behind this incident. Moreover, in a condemnation statement, PPPs central deputy secretary information, Haider Zaman Qureshi has said that his party always stood for the freedom of media. He hoped that culprits of this incident would be taken to task at the earliest.
