PESHAWAR – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, Women Wing, Tuesday observed International Hijab Day, and stressed upon the Muslim women to adopt Hijab, as it will increase their respect in the society.While talking to media persons here at Peshawar Club Nazima JI-Women Wing Inayat Begum said that there were clear cut instructions about ‘Parda’ (veil) for women in Surah Ahzab and Surah Noor (Al-Qur’an) and Ahadith, adding therefore the working women in Muslim societies were bound to cover themselves properly.The Western culture through strong media and propaganda invaded the Muslims’ culture and spoiled their basic norms, values, and culture, she lamented adding it was misfortune of the new generation especially females who were proudly but insensibly adopting the ‘cosmetic and glamorous’ Western way of life. The Western powers, she blamed were defaming Islam by calling us (Muslims) terrorists and fundamentalists, because we are peaceful and believe in women rights’ given by our true religion Islam, she remarked. Besides, Miss Inyat lauded Egyptian and Turkish women, who were sacrificed their lives for the sack of Hijab and thought a lesson to every Muslim woman to adopt Islamic dress by following its code of conduct even living in the Western countries, saying it was not an obstacle in their social and economic progress.Naib Nazima JI Women wing, Humera Bashir informed that special awareness programs including seminars and talks would be arranged from 4 September to 22 September in four districts i.e. Peshawar, Kohat, Abbottabad and Malakand at union council level for the promotion of Hijab in the new generation. She also said that fashion designers have been asked to keep Islamic norms and values while preparing clothes and add scarf in their works to lay dresses in accordance with the Islamic Sharia.Senior member of the party, Ms Bilquees Murad said that Quran classes would be arranged across the province, where women would be thought Islamic lessons on Hijab.
