‘West doing propaganda against Hijab’

KARACHI - The Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi women wing on Tuesday observed the World Hijab (Veil) Day to mark the martyrdom of Marwa Al-Shirbini (head scarf martyred).Egyptian born Marwa Al-Sherbini was brutally murdered in a German court during a trial in 2009 by anti-Muslim German during the trial against her Hijab.The large protest demonstration of Jamaat-e-Islami women wing Karachi was held at New MA Jinnah Road to mark the World Hijab Day. Hundreds of JI Women wing activists were attended the demonstration carrying banners and placards inscribed the slogans “My Hijab is my Identity”, “Feel proud on your Muslim identity” and “Hijab is my right and My honour”.Addressing the demonstration, JI Karachi Chief Muhammad Hussain Mehanti said that Hijab was the dignity and honour of a woman saying that Hijab is the identity of women and the media is unaware of the importance of hijab which is helping the western hands.He said that West and America were involved in baseless propaganda against Hijab and Western countries are made legislation against Islamic Hijab in their countries.He said that World Hijab day was the day of promotion of Hijab across the world and to foil the US and Western conspiracies against Islamic Hijab.Mehanti said that massive increase in Hijab among the Muslim women across the world would foil the western agenda against Hijab and Islamic culture saying that this is the main reason that they were imposed ban on Hijab in their countries.Referring to the brutal murder of Marwa Al-Sherbini, he said that she was killed by the extremist person in a German court because of her Hijab, saying that the message of Marwa has been spread across the world.He criticised some media outlets involved in promoting western culture of nudity and vulgarism and demanded the Pemra to take stern steps to stop promotion of Hindu and Western culture in Pakistan.JI Women Wing leader Ayesha Munawar in her address demanded that hijab should be made compulsory in the Constitution of Pakistan to make it an obligatory element of life for all women.She said that Hijab was the identity of women and the media was unaware of the holiness of hijab which was helping the western hands. She further said that Hindu and the Western cultures were being promoted in the country to ruin the character of Muslim youth and the Muslims must rise to defend their culture and values. She said that Hijab was an integral part of everyday life of hundreds of millions of women across the globe adding that for Muslim women, Hijab is not only a basic human right but also a religious one.The protesting women were wearing veils and covered themselves from head to toe beyond recognition. They declared that this was the right way of doing hijab which is compulsory for all Muslim women in the world.JI Karachi leader Naseem Siddiqui, Nasarullah Khan Shajee and others spoke the demonstration while JI women wing leaders Kausar Masood, Durdana Siddiqui, Attia Nisar and others also present on the occasion.
