JHELUM - Police is rendering invaluable services to protect lives and property of citizens as heinous crime ratio has been decreased, claimed Punjab Inspector General of Police Habibur Rehman.

“We are to serve the public and protect them as per our job requirement and only sincere and committed police officers would stay in the police department while other have to leave,” said the IGP on Monday at an open court held at Government Boys College Dina.

During the open court, the IGP heard the complaints of the people and issued orders on the spot. It was noted that most of the audience present were not genuine complainants rather they were belonging to various security agencies and it was felt by the IGP too, sources said.  Addressing the participants, the IGP said that the officials have been given responsibilities by Allah Almighty thus they should discharge their duties honestly and diligently to facilitate the citizen instead of terrorising them. He claimed that the ratio of crime had reduced since he had taken the charge due to the strict instructions to all DPOs regarding efficiency of police.

He admitted that Thana Culture has yet to be changed and reiterated that it would be done soon with the help of honest police officers and responsible citizens.

On the other side, the public complained that no announcement was made by the police regarding open court. As no announcement was made and it was held at about 2 kilometers away from the city, genuine complaints were not able to reach the khuli kuchery. Earlier, Jhelum DPO Dar Ali Khattak welcomed the IGP.
