MIRPUR (AJK) - Azad Jammu Kashmir Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mirpur on Tuesday declared the names of top 20 position-holding students of the annual intermediate (part-II) composite examinations - 2012.
The board is due to announce complete results on Wednesday (today).
The colleges running in the private-sector remained top by securing distinction across AJK.
The private-sector Kashmir Model College Mirpur remained on top as it secured distinction in entire board by securing a total of eight positions out of first top 20 positions including first top three positions clinched by its (KMC) girl students.
The overall results of the annual Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) (part-II) composite examination 2012 will be announced here on Wednesday (today).
The AJK BISE unveiled the names of toppers at a special ceremony attended by AJK Minister for Education (Colleges) Muhammad Matloob Inqlabi.
The ceremony, presided over by AJK BISE Chairman Prof Muhammad Afzal Mirza, was attended among others by 20 position-holding students, their parents, heads of the private and public sector colleges.
On the occasion, AJK BISE Controller (Examinations) Prof Abdul Razzaq disclosed that a total of 37,472 candidates out of 38,966 candidates appeared in the examination. Out of those appeared in the exam, 15,924 candidates were declared successful. Thus the overall result remained 42.50 percent, 58.88 percent of regular candidates and 26.50 percent of private candidates.
Pre-Medical Group, Kashmir Model College Mirpur student Sara Saghir Kiani, daughter of Muhammad Saghir Kiani, Role No 500573 secured first position in the examination by bagging 1030 marks out of total of 1100.
Similarly, in Pre-Engineering group, Tahreem Masood, daughter of Masoodur Rehman, Role No 510139 and Ayesha Bhatti, daughter of Basharat Ali Bhatti Role No 500560 both students of Kashmir Model College Mirpur secured 2nd and 3rd positions with 1017 and 1011 marks respectively.
Other positions-holding girl students belong to pre-Medical group included Amina Tabassam d/o Ghulam Hussain Role No 500920 of Read Foundation College Bhimbher secured third position in pre-medical group by bagging 1010 marks.
In pre-engineering group Tahreem Masood d/o Masoodur Rehman Role No 510139 of Kashmir Model College Mirpur, MNaqsh Haider d/o Waqar Haider Role No 510041 of Govt Model Science College Muzaffarabad and Maryam Zafar Chaudhry d/o Dr Zafar Yab Ali Role No 510152) of Kashmir Model College Mirpur respectively bagged first, second and third with 1017, 993 and 985 marks respectively.
Similarly, pre-engineering group, boy students Sohaib Ahmed s/o Ghulam Muhammad Roll No 515793) of Superiod Science College Mirpur, Ibraheem Bin Mehmood s/o Mehmood Iqbal Roll No 515210) of Govt Model Science College Muzaffarabad and Ali Raza s/o Abdul Rehman Roll No 515871) of Insight Model College Bhimbher bagged first, second and third positions by securing 1006, 997 and 995 marks respectively.
AJK govt committed to modern education system: AJK Minister for Education Matloob Inqlabi said that the incumbent PPP government was committed to introduce modern education system harmonious with the needs of the modern age to produce quality future architects for the nation.
Speaking at a ceremony held to unveil names of toppers of annual Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) (part-II) composite examination 2012 here on Tuesday, the minister said that a strong and stable Pakistan was the guarantee to the freedom of Kashmir. He said that the sitting PPP government was determined to make the Kashmir freedom movement a complete success. “The government believes that the people of Jammu & Kashmir be granted opportunity to decide about their fate through their own will under the spirit of international norms”, he said, adding it was the only way to grant the people of Jammu & Kashmir their legitimate right to self-determination.
Inqlabi said that Pakistan never claimed Jammu & Kashmir as its part. Whereas India always violated the international norms and agreements including the UN resolutions - claiming Jammu & Kashmir as its integral part.
The minister underlined the achievements of the government in the education sector including emergence of two medical colleges in the public sector and proposed one more medical college, an IT university in Kotli and a full-fledge university in the public sector in Poonch districts.
On the occasion, AJK BISE Chairman Prof Afzal Mirza, Controller Examinations (Colleges) Prof Abdul Razzaq, AJK BISE Secretary Prof Chaudhry Muhammad Zaheer, Controller Examinations (Schools) Javed Mirza, Research Officer Tassawar Hussain Sulehriya, Estate Officer Kh Zaffar Iqbal, Zia ullah Joshi and other officials of the board highlighted the curricular and co-curricular activities of the BISE.
Elaborating the curricular activities, the BISE Chairman reiterated that his organization was determined to maintaining foolproof examinations system on modern lines to ensure principles and credibility of the institution.
For the convenience of the successful students, the AJK BISE has invited the heads of the concerned educational institutions to obtain the result cards of their respective students from the office of the Board by hand from September 6, 2012.
