LAHORE–PML-N President Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that the Federal government has lost its writ in the country as the terrorists are playing with the life and property of the innocent people.

While talking to a delegation of ulema representing various schools of thought in Gilgit here on Tuesday, Nawaz said that people are saddened at the situation prevailing in Gilgit as innocent people are being killed, and it is incumbent upon the govt to unveil the hands behind these killings. He said Gilgit-Baltistan used to be a peaceful region in Pakistan, where there was no crime. But, he said, human lives are no longer safe and people are living under constant fear and threat and nobody is satisfied with the situation.

He said it is responsibility of the government to expose the hidden hands behind criminal activities.

Nawaz said the writ of the government is nowhere as Hazara community, teachers, government servants and other innocent people are being killed but the government is doing nothing and not arresting the culprits which is lamentable.

Govt should restore peace in Gilgit-Baltistan, which supported Pakistan against the Dogra Raj but the people of this region are no longer safe, he added.

Nawaz said that he and his party are prepared to play their due role in restoration of peace and he presents himself voluntarily for this purpose.

He said the representatives of Federal government should come to Gilgit and should not leave the place until there is complete peace and tranquility in the area. Govt should perform its duty of maintaining peace and law and order in this area, Nawaz stated. He said President, Prime Minister and Federal Home Minister should remain present in Gilgit till the situation becomes normal.

He said establishment of Masjid Board is a good step in restoration of peace and directed the office-bearers and workers of PML-N to play their vigorous role in restoration of peace and harmony.

Nawaz Sharif said that we all believe in one Allah Almighty and Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), therefore, we would have to give peace and safety to each other and respect the sentiments and feelings of others.

The members of delegation of ulema of various schools of thought who met Nawaz Sharif included Bilal Shah, Maulana Habibullah, Allama Fida Ali, Raja Nisar Ali, Muzaffar Abbas as well as a large number of representative ulema of Ahle-Sunnah and Ahle-Tashih.
