LAHORE - Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa on Tuesday said that holding local bodies elections was Punjab government’s responsibility and he had written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on the matter.

“The Punjab government should fulfil its responsibilities,” he said while talking to reporters after his address at the concluding ceremony of Pakistan Youth Conference at a local hotel. The governor said following the Supreme Court directives issued to Punjab government to hold LB polls without any further delay; he wrote to the chief minister reminding him of his responsibility of implementing the court orders.

Khosa said the local bodies elections were going to be held in Sindh, and the Punjab government should follow the suit to fulfil its legal and constitutional obligations.

Earlier in his address to the moot, the governor said the youth and the concept of revolution were inseparable and incomplete without each other since that the youth had always been rebels and self-sacrificing.

Terming the youth a biggest national asset, Khosa said they acted as rebels against tyranny, injustice, abuse, oppression and exploitation.

“There is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come. Similarly there is nothing more formidable force on the earth than the united youth of a nation,” he observed.

Separately, Jamaat-e-Islami Women Wing President Samia Raheel Qazi called on the governor at the Governor House to invite him and his spouse to the Hijab Conference to be held in Lahore this month. The governor accepted the invitation.
