SHEIKHUPURA - Dozens of incidents of falling-down from rooftops while kite-flying took place as no action was being taken by the police against the violators including string manufacturers.

After the tragic incidents of throat-slitting, the Punjab government had banned kite-flying. However, the district administration has failed to control it because all the machinery of the district administration was busy in anti-dengue campaign. It is observed there is no wing to keep regular check on the practice. The sky of Sheikhupura city and it’s adjoining areas particularly Old City, Muslim Gunj, Jandiala Road, Khokhar Mohallah, Behari Colony, Jehangirabad, Habib Colony, Rehmat Colony, Housing Colony and Nabi Pura remains covered with colorful kites. The local police do not take steps to stop the menace.

The local people said that it is the responsibility of the district administration and the police to monitor flying kite and their transportation and manufacturing in the district. They also demanded crackdown against the manufacturers as well as-flyers.
