LAHORE - Lamenting the target killings, extortion and growing incidents of dead bodies in gunny bags in Balochistan, KPK and Gilgit Baltistan, the traders have said that military operation in North Waziristan will further deteriorate the already depressed economic conditions of the country.

The business community expressed concern over reports about army operation in North Waziristan and said that the military should not plunge the country into a war at the behest of a foreign country.

The All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran Chairman Kh Shafiq and general secretary Naeem Mir flaying a statement of chief of army staff, asked him to abide by the resolutions of parliament and All Parties Conference, as the people of Pakistan and majority of traders are not ready to accept this war as their own battle. “Business community in particular and masses in general will no way support military operation in North Waziristan agency,” they said “We can’t afford another ill-advised decision,” the traders’ leaders said.

Opposing military operations in any part of the country including North Waziristan, they asked Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani to understand the sentiments of the masses in this regard.

Requesting the government to initiate political dialogues with disgruntled, he said that the US itself was holding dialogue with the Taliban whereas it was increasing pressure on Pakistan for an operation to widen the gulf between the people and the armed forces. They said that if government wants to start operation it should approach the public through referendum under the constitution.
