BAHAWALPUR

The police continued crackdown on workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and registered cases against dozens of office bearers and workers for violating Section 144 across Bahawalpur Division.

In Rahim Yar Khan, PTI workers and office bearers took out a rally under the leadership of former state minister for interior Chaudhry Zafar Iqbal Warraich. At which the police registered a case against 85 PTI workers including Ch Zafar Iqbal Warraich on charges of violation of Section 144.

The police arrested two PTI worker namely Muhammad Ali, a resident of Niazi Colony and Muhammad Salman, a resident of Jinnah Park and shifted them to RY Khan B Division Police Station.

In Tehsil Khanpur, three PTI workers were put under house arrest for 15 days and arrested Misbah Ullah Khan and Dr Abdul Ghaffar, Usman Ahmad and Muhammad Husnain, residents of Basti Amanat Ali. The police also released Muhammad Fahim, a resident of Chak 111/P after he submitted an affidavit, assuring that he would do not take part in any anti-government activities.

In Ahmadpur East, the police raided the house of PTI Tehsil President Abdul Basit Shukrani and arrested him while many office bearers went into hiding to avert looming arrests.

Abdul Basit Shukrani’s brother alleged that the police had violated sanctity of four walls and arrested his brother from his house.

In Hasilpur, the police registered a case against 90 unknown persons and six nominated PAT and PTI office bearers.

In Bahawalpur, the police registered cases against 14 nominated and 25 unidentified leaders and workers of the PTI and PAT including Federal Minister Education Engineer Muhammad Baligur Rehman’s cousin Mian Nabeelur Rehman.
