NA speaker accepts Hashmi's resignation

ISLAMABAD - Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq accepted the resignation of Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf President Makhdoom Javid Hashmi's resignation and intimated it to the Election Commission of Pakistan for further action.
Hashmi had tendered his resignation along with his party MPs a few days back but he confirmed the same in his address to the National Assembly on September 2. The defiant Hashmi parted ways with his party on certain issues relating to its ongoing protest on Constitution Avenue. He at his recent two press conferences held levelled serious allegations on the party chairman Imran Khan regarding his connivance with Pakistan Awami Tehreek and certain other forces to target the incumbent political dispensation in the country.
On September 2, Hashmi made final appearance in the National Assembly where after making a fiery speech he confirmed his resignation to the Speaker National. Speaker Ayaz Sadiq accepted Hashmi's resignation on Thursday last.Hashmi had won elections from NA-149 Multan during the 2013 general elections on PTI ticket.
It is pertinent to mention here that PTI members had tendered their resignations on August 22. However, none of the resignations has yet been accepted except of Javed Hashmi.
During the ongoing Joint Session of the Parliament on a number of occasions a number of Parliamentarians including Moulana Fazlur Rehman and Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao pressed the Speaker to accept the resignations of the PTI MPs and follow the rules of procedure in this connection but the Speaker was adopting restraint in this connection telling the MPs that he was following the procedure and would need their personal confirmation in this regard.
