Two troops die in Mohmand IED blasts

GHALANAI - Two security personnel were killed in two different incidents of IED blasts in Lower Chamarkand area of Mohmand tribal region here on Sunday, official said.

The incidents took place in Safi tehsil near Pak-Afghan border, some 70 kilometer south west of agency headquarters Ghalanai, the main town of Mohmand Agency.

Local administration said that in the first incident one security personnel Sepoy Zar Badshah Khattak was escorting the bomb disposable squad on a Kacha track when an IED planted by militants blasted resulting in his instant death.

Assistant Political Agent Ghalanai Haseebur Rehman Khalil confirmed the incident and said that two IEDs blasted in the Chamarkand area in which two security men were martyred.

Meanwhile, in the same area when Khasadar force officials were busy in search operation, another IED went off in the open area due to which one Khasadar sepoy namely Nabi Khan was seriously injured and succumbed to his wounds on the way to hospital later.

After the incident, security forces conducted a search operation in the area, however, no arrest was made till filing of the report.

“Nabi Khan was performing duty in place of his father Pam Jan because of his illness,” said an officer of the local administration.

A khasadar was also killed in the IED blast in Alinagar area on last Friday when he was on his way to perform duty at a checkpost.

It merits mentioning here that many Khasadar officials have been martyred in the line of duty but they have not been compensated.

A local elder of Safi Malik Gul Shah said that government should compensate those Khasadars or their family members who die in line of duty.

Mohmand tribesmen demanded of the high ups to compensate all those Khassadar heirs that were killed in the war of militancy in the area.

Security beefed up in all the security check posts in the entire agency and forces also patrolling in the area to check close eyes on any suspects’ movements.

Security forces also conduct search operation in Kamali Haleemzai and Safi tehsil in which they seized weapons and explosives.

COMMITTEE SHOT DEAD IN TANK

Armed men gunned down former chief of peace committee in Tank on Sunday and escaped from the scene after committing the crime.

Police said that unidentified miscreants sprayed bullets at ex-chief of peace committee Muhammad Shoaib killing him on the spot in Kot Azam area, Gomal Bazaar Police Station jurisdiction and fled from the scene of the crime.

The body was shifted to district headquarters (DHQs) Hospital and the police after registering a case against unidentified murderers started efforts for their arrests.
