LAHORE - Pakistan No 1 U-14 tennis player Asad Zaman (McDonald’s) won double crowns in the Under-14 singles and double categories of the 8th KC Indus Pharma National Seniors & Juniors Tennis Championship being played Karachi Club.
Asad first won the U-14 singles final, where he was up against promising Samer Zaman and he dominated the encounter right from the word go as he just conceded one point to win the first set 4-1. Asad continued to pile pressure on Samer and didn’t allow him to score even a single point to win the second set 4-0, thus claimed another national title.
Asad doubled his crowns when he, partnering with Shehryar, outlasted the pair of Dhuraf Das and Muneer Derbari 8-3 in the U-14 doubles final. Soon after winning double titles, Asad Zaman thanked his coach Rashid Malik (ZTBL), sponsors McDonald’s and Tariq Zaman for helping him in making his dream come true gradually.
In Under-10 singles semifinals, Abdul Rehman (Lahore) beat Rashid Bachani (Hyderabad) 4-0, 4-0 to book berth in the final. In Under-12 doubles semifinal, sensational Zohaib Malik and Samer Zaman played well against the pair of Larib Shamsi and Mahad Shehzad and thrashed them with a score of 4-0, 4-0. The matches of all other categories couldn’t take place due to rain. The finals of different categories will now take place today (Sunday) and later, the winners will be awarded with prizes and certificates during the concluding ceremony.
