Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions Najamuddin Khan has said that President Asif Ali Zardari has been requested to implement the FATA Regulations in place of Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) in tribal areas. Talking to journalists here on Monday in Peshawar, the federal minister said the committee on FCR had forwarded its recommendations to President Zardari for his approval. Najamuddin said it has been recommended to the President that the FCR should be renamed as FATA Regulations while functions of judiciary and administration should be segregated from each other. The minister said there has been some improvement in law and order situation in Swat. Najamuddin Khan said President Zardari will endorse the Nizam-e-Adl regulation if normalcy returns in Swat. He said some forces want to destabilise Swat peace deal. The minister strongly condemned the US drone attacks in tribal areas and said that the deteriorating security situation in FATA was due to the presence of foreign militants.
