KARARCHI - MQM on Sunday observed a condemnation day against the flogging of girl in Swat. MQM has vowed that it would never surrender before Taliban and wouldnt compromise on honour, dignity, and self-respect of the free citizens of Pakistan. The supporters of the MQM across the City fluttered black flags, wore black armbands and hanged effigies of Taliban to express their anger against the flogging of a teenaged girl in Swat. Women wing of the MQM staged main rally near Quaid-e-Azams mausoleum. They reached the venue in buses from several areas of Karachi. MQM chief Altaf Hussain said that they had followed the teachings of Islam and Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) instead of the Shariah of Taliban. He warned that MQM was not a coward and they would face Taliban bravely and boldly. Speaking at a large demonstration at Shahrah-e-Quaideen organised by the MQM women wing, he demanded of the President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, and Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik to immediately order for the trial of the culprits involved in this incident. Atlaf condemned the barbaric act of Taliban and termed that they are not Muslims. Quoting the investigation report of BBC Urdu service, he said that the report revealed that the victim was identified and eyewitnesses said that the barbaric act of girl flogging was held after Tehreek Nifaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammadi (TNSM) signed a accord with the NWFP government. It is also said in the report that the regrettable incident was occurred in the village KalaKali of Swat district Kabal, 20 days before April 3 when it was aired on TV channels. He criticised the so-called clerics who support the barbaric act of the flogging of the girl in Swat by the Taliban. He denounced the statement of Jamaat-e-Islamis new chief. He said the JI chief supported the public flogging of girl in Swat. I shall continue raising my voice against the anti-Islamic act of Taliban till my death because they are defaming Islam for their vested interests, he vowed. He urged the women to get physical training to protect themselves from the acts of Taliban. We shall not allow Taliban to destroy the girls schools and colleges, he warned. He strongly condemned the suicide attack in Chakwal Imambargah and expressed his deep sorrow over the casualties of Shia Muslims. MQM Rabita Committee Deputy Convenor Dr Farooq Sattar, MQM MNA Khushbakht Shujaat, MQM women wing in-charge and MNA, Kishwar Zahra, and others were also addressed the protest demonstration. City Nazim Mustafa Kamal, City Naib Nazima Nasreen Jalil, MQM Rabita Committee members, federal and provincial members, legislators of MQM in Sindh and National Assembly and MQM town nazims, naib nazims and others were also present on the occasion. From Korangi to Liaquatabad, MQM supporters had expressed their opposition to the Talibanisation. Petrol pumps, shops, markets and residential and commercial buildings, overhead bridges were swamped with banners, posters, black flags and effigies of Taliban 'terrorists.
