ISLAMABAD (APP)- The administration of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has requested the Ministry of Interior to provide security personnel to the hospital keeping in view the current law and order situation. According to official sources, the hospital administration has written a letter to the ministry requesting to help them regarding security of the hospital particularly after termination of contract of private security agency working with PIMS. They said in current situation, the security of the hospital was inadequate and there was need to enhance the security with the help of Police department of federal capital and ministry of Interior. Sources said the committee formed by the Executive Director comprised of senior doctors included Professor Khaleeq-ul-Zaman and Professor Imran Sikandar had also recommended the management of the hospital to make strict security plan. Similarly, on the recommendations of the committee, the Executive Director PIMS Dr Abdul Majeed Rajput has decided to expand car parking area for doctors in hospital premises. He also asked the doctors to use stickers on their vehicles for identification. The hospital management has appealed the visitors to avoid using designated parking areas in the hospital premises. Many attendants of patients at PIMS have expressed their concern over poor security arrangements in the hospital and appealed the concerned authorities to provide official security personnel to the hospital. They were of view that private security guards cannot provide proper security to the visitors and people feel insecure in their presence.
