Dispute will be resolved amicably: Secy Health

LAHORE - The dispute between doctors and journalists will be resolved amicably through dialogue between respective principals of medical colleges and representatives of media men so that such incidents could not occur again as was happened in Jinnah Hospital recently. This was announced in a meeting of principals of medical colleges held under the chairmanship of Secretary Health Fawad Hasan Fawad here on Monday. The principals present in the meeting assured that discipline would be maintained in medical colleges and teaching hospitals and no hurdle would be tolerated in the provision of medical facilities to the patients. The principals also reiterated the determination that in accordance with the orders of the High Court, immediate provision of medical assistance to patients would be ensured in emergency wards of all hospitals. The secretary health said service to the ailing humanity and treatment of patients was the prime responsibility of doctors community. It was also decided that a meeting on monthly basis to be chaired by the secretary health would be held regularly to gain up-to-date knowledge about administrative affairs and other problems relating to the hospitals. The meeting also considered various proposals for making up shortage of doctors and other trained staff as well as security arrangements in hospitals.
