KARACHI (APP) - Brisk shipping was recorded at the port where five ships scheduled to load/offload containers, rice and furnace oil were allotted berths at Qasim International container terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Oil terminal respectively on Sunday, April 04th. Meanwhile two more ships carrying containers and diesel oil also arrived at outer anchorage of port Qasim during last 24 hours. Berth occupancy remained at the port at fifty five percent on Sunday where a total of six ships namely C.V Maersk Montana, C.V Al-Mirqab, M.V Alexi-III, M.V Oriental Moon, m.T Samho Gloria and m.T Iron Monger-3 are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement rice, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours. Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood 96,971 tones comprising 82,328 tonnes imports and 14,648 tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,411 containers (Boxes) was handled during last 24 hours. Three ships M.T Bunga Melati-5, C.V Puelche and C.V Al-Mirqab sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while another ships C.V Maersk Montana is expected to sail. Two ships C.V MSC Sarawak and C.V Northern Diplomat carrying containers are expected to take berths at containers Terminal on Monday, April 05th, while another ships c.V Nedlloyd Oceania is due to arrive at port Qasim on Tuesday, April 06.
