Report submitted to Apex Court

ISLAMABAD Ministry for Law and Justice had submitted compliance report containing Governments steps to implement Supreme Courts verdict of December 16, 2009 on National Reconciliation Ordinance here on Monday with SC Registrar Office. Registrar office of the SC has confirmed that Secretary Law, Justice (Retd) Aqil Mirza has submitted the compliance report but did not share its details with media, saying that the report would be presented before the Supreme Court. It is relevant to mention here that earlier a seven members bench of SC headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chuadhry while hearing a sue moto case of Ahmad Riaz Sheikhs promotion had directed the Law Ministry to submit compliance report over its verdict regarding NRO till 5th April. APP adds: A report containing governments steps to implement the Supreme Courts verdict of December 16, 2009 on National Reconciliation Ordinance was submitted Monday with the Registrar Office. According to the Registrar office, the contents of the report could not be divulged at this stage and would be placed before the court. Last week, a larger bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had directed the attorney general, secretary Law and counsel for NAB to hold a meeting and finalise a mechanism for executing the NRO verdict in letter and spirit.
