QUETTA Unidentified gunmen shot dead an official of Sui Southern Gas Company in incident of target killing and seriously wounded his driver in the provincial capital on Monday morning, police said. Unidentified armed assailants riding on a motorbike opened indiscriminate firing on Muhammad Khalid Awan on Satellite town area of Quetta as he left home for his office in his vehicle. As a result of intense firing, he received critical bullet wounds in his head and died on the spot while his driver was wounded and rushed to Civil Hospital Quetta for treatment. The assailants escaped from the site after committing the crime. Police officials termed the incident as target killing. Muhammad Khalid Awan was serving as Deputy Manager Billing and Customer. Soon after the incident, police and other law enforcement agencies reached the site and cordoned off the area. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. Family members of Khalid and company workers strongly protested against the killing and demanded of the government for immediate arrest of culprits involved in this heinous crime.
