QUETTA - Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court has taken notice of kidnapping of former Balochistan Advocate General and prominent lawyer Salahudin Mengal, who was kidnapped by armed men on Thursday from Sariab Road of Quetta.

Justice Qazi Faez Esa, taking notice of kidnapping of Salahudin Mengal, issued notices to Deputy Attorney General, Advocate General and police authorities concerned.

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Esa took notice on news material presented by registrar and on the request of representatives of Balochistan Bar Association, Balochistan High Court and Supreme Court Bar Association.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Qazi Faez Esa and Justice Naheem Akthar Afghan heard the suo moto case while the representatives of Balochistan Bar and High Bar Associations also appeared before the bench.

The lawyers’ organisations made IG Police, CCPO Quetta, SP Sariab Circle and SHO Sariab police station as party.

The court issued directives to all parties, including official department and security agencies, for making all-out efforts for the safe recovery of kidnapped lawyer.

The court adjourning the hearing issued notices to Deputy Attorney General and Advocate General Balochistan and summoned CCPO Quetta, SP Sariab and SHO Sariab police station to appear before the court on April, 9.

On the other hand, lawyers boycotted court proceedings and took out rallies in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan to condemn the kidnapping of Salahudin Mengal and demanded for his early recovery.

Official sources said that law enforcement agencies have started search operation in the outskirts of Quetta and some parts of adjacent district Mastung for the recovery of former Advocate General.

They claimed that during the raids, law enforcement agencies had also rounded up several accused who were being interrogated. However, so far they had made no big breakthrough to reach kidnappers, they added.
