GUJRANWALA - A local Magistrate again summoned former MNA from NA-100 Mudassar Qayyum Nahra for Saturday (today) to clear himself of fake degree allegations in an application filed by Deputy Election Commissioner Ch Sarwar.

The former PML-N MNA, who was disqualified on charges of holding fake degree, was summoned by Magistrate Muhammad Asif on Friday but he failed to show up.

It is to be noted that Rana Bilal Ijaz, a candidate from NA-100, had challenged the degree of Mudassar Nahra and subsequently Returning Officer Aqib Nazir rejected his nomination papers. On the other hand, on the application of Deputy Election Commissioner Ch Sarwar a case was registered against him. He, however, escaped arrest and secured bail from a court till April 8.

It is to be noted the police have already launched a crackdown on fake degree-holding politicians across the country on the instructions of Supreme Court.
