LAHORE - The Punjab Agriculture Department has advised farmers to use new bags to store wheat as old bags should be used only after spraying them with recommended medicines to prevent losses. An Agriculture Department spokesman said Friday that warehouses should be cleaned and repaired properly before storing wheat so that larvae of insects might not harm it. He also advised farmers to carry out the recommended spray or fumigation in the godowns.

He added that aluminum phosphide tablets should be used to kill mice and other insects and that the warehouses should be kept airtight.
