ISLAMABAD - The electoral body has said that the candidates submitting nomination papers for reserved seats are not required to submit separate party affiliation certificates while submitting their nominations papers with the returning officers.

“The Election Commission of Pakistan has considered the party affiliation certificate issue and decided that as a political parties are required to file priority list of seats reserved for women and minorities in the national and provincial assemblies and through such lists the political parties nominated their candidates in order of priority there is no need for filing separate certificate showing party affiliation by each candidate while filing his/ her nomination form with the returning officer or at any subsequent stage,” the ECP said Friday.

“It is therefore clarified that the returning officers for seats reserved for women and non-Muslims in the national and the provincial assemblies may not require party affiliation certificate for any candidate filing his/ her nomination paper for national and the provincial assemblies seats,” the electoral body said.
