LAHORE – The SNGPL has finally made public the list of the defaulters worth Rs 9 billion.

The list included the industrial sector default of Rs 7.96 billion and commercial sector default of Rs 890 million.

An official of the company said that gas supply of some of the major defaulters was disconnected over non-payment while the others cases were either in the court and they were given some time to pay their dues.

Around 1205 defaulters who have to pay Rs 890 million of the SNGPL are commercial consumers and 1545 are industry owners from almost all major cities of Punjab and KPK.

The official who requested not to publish his name expressed doubt over the direct involvement of politicians among the defaulters of the SNGPL.

“Yes, the politicians sons, daughters and relatives certainly are among the big defaulters,” he said.

The SNGPL’s non-consumers default is more than Rs 11 billion and the recovery of that is the responsibility of OGRA, he added.

It is worth mentioning here that the company faces billions of loss per year due to theft, leakage and non-recovery of dues and if the problems overcome, the profit of the SNGPL would be doubled.
