PESHAWAR - Like other parts of the country, Christian community celebrated Easter with religious zeal and fervour here on Sunday.

Tight security arrangements have been made to avert any untoward incident during this religious occasion. Out of 20 churches 12 churches were declared sensitive where heavy contingent of police has been deployed to keep close watch over the miscreant elements.

Special prayers were offered in deferent churches for the security and prosperity of the country. A rally was also taken out from Saint Jan Cathedral Church, Peshawar cantonment, at 4:00am Sunday morning under security of Pakistan Army.

Talking to The Nation Bishop Sarfaraz said that Christian community was satisfied with security arrangements being made for the Easter festival. He said that soldiers of Pakistan Army greatly contributed in peaceful observance of the Easter.

Meanwhile Easter celebrations were also held in various area of FATA like Mohmand Agency and Khyber Agency where people distributed traditional foods and offered special prayers in churches.
