Police nailed 628 outlaws, recovered Rs35m booty

The police claimed to have arrested 628 notorious proclaimed offenders (POs) including two dangerous POs bearing Rs0.4 million each head money and recovered stolen and snatched valuables including 79 motorcycles, 6 cars, cattle heads, electronics, cash and other valuables worth of Rs35 million during the first three months of the current year.
Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Shehzad Asif Khan disclosed this while talking to the newsmen at his office here on Sunday.
Sialkot SP (Investigations) Irfan Tariq Khan, DSP City Maqsood Ahmed Lone and senior member Sialkot District Peace Committee Zafar Malik were also present on the occasion.
The DPO said that the district police busted 30 well-organised inter-district gangs of dacoits and arrested 122 gangsters whose arrest helped the police to trace out 135 more cases of heinous nature.
He pointed out that four POs were killed in two shootouts with the police during the corresponding period. The DPO revealed that the police also recovered 16 illicit Kalashnikovs, 72 guns, 91 different kind of rifles, 477 pistols, 14 revolvers, nine carbines, 12 draggers and 8,216 bullets from the criminals during a special campaign, besides, the police recovered 3.5 kgs of heroin, 168 kgs of Charas (worth millions of rupees), 2,105 litres of wine, 216 litres of Lahen (the material used in wine making), unearthed 27 working distilleries and sent 65 drunkards behind the bars during the period in question.
