Ayyan fined $506,800 by customs court

RAWALPINDI - Customs court on Tuesday fined super model Ayyan Ali a sum of $506,800, which is the exact amount of money she had tried to smuggle out of the country.
She was taken into custody on March 14, 2015, after Customs officials at Islamabad airport recovered $508,600 stashed in her luggage, ahead of boarding a flight to Dubai.
Custom Collectorate Mohammad Ali Raza concluded the court case of the model by asking her to submit a fine worth the same amount which she tried to smuggle out of the country.
The court while announcing the decision of the case also stated that Ayyan did not report to the court despite various summons.
Two companions of Ayyan were also fined Rs 100,000 each by the court.
Ayyan faced legal proceedings for over a year now and was finally ordered to pay a fine equal to amount recovered from her in the currency smuggling case.
