ISLAMABAD - Member of the Political Bureau of Communist Party of China, Zhang Chunxian, yesterday visited the GHQ Rawalpindi and called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif.

According to ISPR, during the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional stability and measures to enhance bilateral defence and security collaboration were discussed.

Zhang Chunxian acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts towards fighting terrorism and appreciated the successes achieved in the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb.

While underlining the importance of CPEC, Zhang Chunxian said that CPEC will have highly significant and long – term impact on the region and is equally beneficial for people of Pakistan and China.

The COAS reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to ensure secure environment for timely completion and subsequent management of CPEC in the best interest of prosperous region.


Commander Iraq Air Force, Lt Gen Anwer Hamed Ameen, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, called on General Rashad Mahmood, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, at the Joint Staff Headquarters, Rawalpindi.

During the meeting, they discussed matters of professional interest and measures to enhance bilateral cooperation between the Armed Forces.

The visiting dignitary lauded the professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged the sacrifices made by Pakistan in fight against terror.
