MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said the government is determined to lay down network of roads to provide better facilities to the people of Azad Kashmir.

He was speaking at a meeting of Parliamentary board of PML-N of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in Muzaffarabad on Wednesday.

The 17-member PML-N Parliamentary Board comprised senior party leaders from Azad Jammu and Kashmir as well as the central leaders of party. Nawaz Sharif is the Chairman of the Board.

With Dr. Asif Kirmani as Secretary Coordination, Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Raja Farooq Haider, Shah Ghulam Qadir, Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, Dr. Najeeb Khan Naqi, Chaudhry Muhammad Aziz and Sardar Abdul Khaliq Wasi are the Board members.

Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Chaudhry Barjees Tahir, Pervaiz Rashid, and Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, it was reiterated that the PML-N leadership was committed to finalize the names of party candidates for the AJK elections on merit so that the true representatives of people come forward and put AJK on the path of progress and development by focussing on the projects of people's welfare.

Election on 41 seats in the 49-member Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is held directly whereas 12 seats are reserved for the Muhajareen, five for women while three others are reserved for Ulema and technocrats.

Huge number of crowds gathered on the road sides to get a glimpse of their beloved leader Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif when he left Muzaffarabad after attending the parliamentary board meeting.

The people waved their hands to express solidarity with the Prime Minister and raised vociferous slogans in support of PML-N. The PML-N leadership resolved to bring AJK at par with other developed areas of the country through commencement of a new journey of development.

The people of Kashmir had great affection for Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for his bold and strong stance over the Kashmir issue at various international fora. They also appreciated the vision of Pakistan Muslim League-N for the progress and prosperity of the area and public welfare.

Earlier, upon arrival in Muzaffarabad, the Prime Minister was warmly received by PML-N AJK President and Leader of the Opposition in AJK Assembly Raja Farooq Haider, Deputy Opposition Leader Tariq Farooq, former speaker Shah Ghulam Qadir and other high officials.
