LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s wife Tehmina Durrani has termed the offshore holdings of Sharif family an immoral business and suggested family to return back the public money.

Tehmina Durrani in a series of tweets on Tuesday criticised the offshore holdings of Sharif family and asked for the return of the money to the people of Pakistan.

Panama Leaks also mentioned her mother an owner of offshore company. She said she had nothing to do with her mother’s wealth.

“I’m not part of my mother’s wealth nor do I know what she owns or who she banks with,” she tweeted.

Tehmina who is a writer and well known for her progressive thoughts further tweeted: “I believe in national wealth being returned. I said two years ago that for democratic survival, leaders have to be upfront and return Pak wealth.

“Been married to SS (Shehbaz Sharif) for 14 yrs now !! The Sharifs never met me reasons qualified for them…,” she tweeted.

“Even if offshore companies, foreign properties, and accounts might be legal, for me they are unethical,” she said.

Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan Awami Tehreek have rejected the formation of Judicial Commission by the Prime Minister to probe into the Panama Leaks and demanded of the Supreme Court to take action on the scandal. JI chief Sirajul Haq and PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri rejected the offer made by Nawaz Sharif.

Siraj said the matter should be immediately handed over to the NAB if the Prime Minister sincerely desired a probe.

He said that in the light of the details of the Panama Leaks, inquiry into the matter was not the job of a retired judge, and a full fledged investigation agency should be entrusted it.

“If the govt wants to escape from the NAB, the matter should be entrusted to the Chief Justice of Pakistan who should appoint a Judicial Commission comprising three senior most judges of the apex court for the purpose,” asked JI chief.

He noted that the Nawaz in his address had not explained why his family had set up offshore companies.

He said it was a widely known fact that offshore companies were set up to hide black money and to receive kickbacks and commission. He said it was not proper for the Prime Minister’s family to do business through off shore companies.

Dr Qadri demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister after “the Sharifs’ black money businesses had been proved through Panama Paper.”

“Prime Minister deceived the people of Pakistan in his speech. It is another drama of Sharifs. What happened to the Justice Baqir Najfi Judicial Commission report on Model Town incident,” he asked.
