A delegation of Command and Staff College Quetta visited Iqbal Manzil, the birthplace of Allama Iqbal, here on Tuesday.

The delegates took keen interest in the personal things of Allama Iqbal and his family and their rare photos displayed there. They paid homage to Allama Iqbal and also highlighted various aspects of his life, poetry, philosophy and Pakistan Movement.

They said that the teachings of Allama Iqbal are like a beacon to maintain tolerance, peace and stability in the society. They said that the national youth should transform themselves into Iqbal’s ‘Mard-e-Momin’ and strive for self-reliance. They emphasised austerity envisioned by Allama Iqbal.

The delegates stressed that Pakistan could only be redeemed through emulation of Iqbal’s vision on democracy, human excellence and self reliance.

WALK ON HEART DISEASES: A large number of people participated in a walk taken out to raise public awareness about heart diseases.

Dr Masudur Rehman Kiyani led the walk held by Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH). It started from the district courts and ended at congested Allama Iqbal Chowk. The participants including doctors, traders, social workers, lawyers, educationists and journalists marched on various city roads. Carrying banners and placards, the participants pledged to make collective and individual efforts for spreading awareness about the diseases.

Talking to newsmen, the chairman said the main objective of the PANAH is to disseminate information about spread of heart diseases, its causative and risk factors, their control & modification so as to prevent, minimise and control the miseries and fatalities due to angina, heart failure and heart attack.

OFFICER SUSPENDED: District Coordination Officer Asif Tufail has suspended supervisor Irfan Ghauri of Sialkot Waste Management Company (SWMC) for negligence. He suspended him during a sudden visit to the various urban parts of Sialkot city.
