KARACHI - The JUI-F on Tuesday decided to support the PPP and withdraw its candidate contesting PS-115 by-polls to be held on April 7.

According to a PPP handout, the two parties held a meeting on the forthcoming by-elections on PS-115. Having detailed discussions, the JUI consented to withdraw its candidate Ehsanullah Hazarvi in favour of PPP candidate Saeed Chawla. The JUI also appealed to its workers and supporters to cast their votes in favour of the PPP candidate.

It is pertinent to mention here that independent candidate Imran Tareen has also announced to withdraw in favour of PPP candidate Saeed Chawla.

Moreover, the All Pakistan Muslim League also announced to withdraw its NA-245 candidate in favour of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

According to the APML spokesman, party has decided to withdraw its candidate Syed Aziz Naveed Shah Noori in favour of the MQM. The decision was taken after deliberations, he said.

POLICE REMAINED CLUELESS

Police investigators remained clueless regarding probe into the fatal attack on a security guard of MQM Senator Nasreen Jalil.

At least three people including a minor girl were killed in a firing incident in Nagan Chowrangi on Monday. One of the victims was Abid, who is a city warden and also performing duty as the security guard of MQM Senator Nasreen Jalil. Other victims included Abid’s friend Attique and his 8-year-old daughter Tasbia.

The attackers also managed to take the empty shells of the bullets away with them. The police could not even trace out any suspect in the footage of CCTV cameras installed on the road due to darkness.

SHO Imran Zaidi said that they were investigating the case from different angles; however he said they could not find any clue in this regard so far. The Shahra-e-Noor Jahan police on the other hand, registered a case against unidentified persons on behalf of victim Atiq’s brother Kamal.

The Sindh home minister and police high ups took notice of the incident and asked the police officials concerned to take stern action against those who are using private vehicles resembling with police mobiles.

Funeral prayers of the victims were offered at New Karachi and attended by large number of people. After the funerals, the participants also staged a protest and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
