The AJK youth urged the government and the political parties to include them in the decision-making process and take them into confidence ahead of the upcoming state elections.

It was stated in the concluding ceremony of a four-day capacity building workshop titled “Youth’s Political Participation by Enhancing Advocacy and Engagement” organised by AJK-based research and capacity-building organisation Center for Peace, Development and Reforms (CPDR) here on Tuesday.

AJK Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Shaheen Kauser Dar, Commissioner Raja Amjad Parvez Ali Khan, CPDR Executive Director Ershad Mahmud, Dr Waqas Ali Kauser, Malik Waseem and others shared their views and experience with 25 young participants.

Addressing the ceremony, Shaheen Dar said that youth had to play a key role to restructure and strengthen the democratic institutions. She said that in the upcoming elections, the youth should work hard to help the “sincere and visionary” leaders to be elected. Dar also urged political parties to enhance youth’s involvement in political decision-making especially in the upcoming elections.
