A terrorist in US books

Nelson Mandela has finally been written off the terrorist list by the United States. Mr Mandela who has just turned 90 could may well live in peace now. He may now have no fear of being deported, being put in the missing people's list, have bank accounts frozen or his phone calls being tapped. He may not be aware of the crimes he committed in the struggle for the rights of his countrymen but he was on the list of criminals in the US books. With one terrorist less to chase, the US led coalition has more time to trace the other insurgents in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan's tribal area. We all hope to have a world filled with more terrorists like Mr. Mandela. -DR FUAD SHAFIQ, Lahore, via e-mail, July 20.
