The Geo TV channel recently telecast a documentary on Kalabagh dam. The interviewer, Aniq Naji worked hard to hold interviews with various persons concerned with the Kalabagh dam. It is proposed that Mr. Naji should hold interviews with ex-Chairman WAPDA Engineer Shams-ul Mulk of NWFP and Engineer Mazhar Ali, ex-Advisor Irrigation, Punjab, to get a clearer picture about this project. The comments of NWFP and Sindh representatives were not convincing. Mr. Tariq Hameed's comments, on the other hand, were very convincing illustrating the fact that NWFP could get its share of water only if the Kalabagh dam gets constructed. Same is the case of Balochistan. Mr. Hameed's views ought to allay fears of the ANP stalwarts who do not seem to appreciate that after reduction in height of the dam by 10 feet, water would not flood Noshehra nor would there be any problem of waterlogging in the upstream NWFP. -DR.
