Carts rally against TMA, contractors Eid looting

OUR STAFF REPORTER OKARA Hundreds of owners of donkey and horse carts took out a rally against overcharging by the contractors allegedly in connivance with the Tehsil Municipal Administration. They chanted slogans against contractors and the TMA, demanding cancellation of their contract. However, the additional district collector and Tehsil Council administrator appointed TMO Imran Sindhu as inquiry officer and sought report in this regard. Sources said more than 3,000 carts of every type running within the limits of Tehsil Council Okara were given on contract last month for Rs .65 million. Under contract, every cart owner had to pay Rs. 30 per month but the contractors in collision with the TMA officials are charging Rs.40 instead of Rs.30. Thus, the cart owners took out a huge rally and chanted slogans against the contractors and the TMA. They demanded the agreement of the contractors involved in overcharging should be cancelled and action should be taken against them. On a written writ, Additional Distt Collector Zaheer Malik ordered the TMA to submit a report. Later, Zaheer Malik told the journalists if corruption is proved, a stern departmental action will be taken against them. TMO Imran Sindhu warned the contractors to submit their claims and till further orders forbade them to collect chit fee. DACOITY: Five armed car riders held two other car riders hostage and deprived them of a cash of Rs. 1.5 million and mobiles. Mohammad Arif, the resident of kheir pur Depal pur, along with his companion Mohammad Azam riding a car (4041/SDN) from Bunga Hayat was going to Depalpur. Suddenly, the five armed dacoits held the two car riders hostage. The bandits extorted the money from them. The police have started raids for the arrest of the criminals and recovery of snatched cash. At Pakpattan Depalpur Road near Itefaq Nagar, more than 15 dacoits riding in two trucks held security guards hostage looted hundreds of sacks of fertilisers worth hundreds and thousands of rupees. SUICIDE: A labourer working in grain market Okara having been fed up with unemployment and domestic expenditures, committed suicide. As per details the resident of 46/2.L Okara a 20 years old youth Mohammad Imdad worked in grain market as labourer to support his family. Having not met the expenses of his family and unemployment he hanged with a fan and died.
