LAHORE Formation of new provinces in the country is against the spirit of Pakistans ideology and if inevitable the provinces could be made on administrative basis through national consensus. There views were expressed by member of Board of Governor Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust Mian Farooq Altaf here on Friday. He said the four provinces had already been formed on administrative basis and the new formation in this regard could also be ensured by adopting national consensus. He further said this pattern had been adopted all over the world. He exampled as in India 29 provinces were made instead of the 14. Nigeria also followed the same pattern for new provinces and this all was not done on ethnic basis, he added. Farooq Altaf said that the Pakistan was facing many problems including load shedding, price hike and unemployment, adding the country was also meeting with eternal and external challenges presently. Therefore, he said, in such circumstances, it would be parallel to fan a new crisis by adopting any other way to form new provinces in the country. He said no political party adopted the manifesto of creating new provinces in last forty-year history of Pakistan. sssHe further said some political persons were talking about the creation of new provinces just to prolong their rule. Protest: A small group of members of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (S) staged a protest demonstration against murder attempt on party leader Maulana Shah Ahmed. Local leaders of the Jamiat held the demonstration in Nonarian Chowk after Friday prayers and chanted slogans against the government and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and exemplanary punishment. They were also carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands. CM condoles: Area Manager of a local bank Najam Faizs wife Naila Najam died, and was laid to rest in the Friday afternoon. She was daughter of senior journalist Bashir Ahmed Qureshi, sister of President Lahore Press Club. She has left behind two sons Umair Najam, Uzair Najam and daughter Amna Najam. Her Qul will be held on Saturday between Zuhr and Asr prayer at Sector DD mosque Phase-IV of Defence Housing Authority. Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of sister of Sarmad Bashir. In a condolence message, the CM prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the members of the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.
