LALAMUSA - The PML-N Gujrat district president has resigned over his differences with the Punjab leadership.

Dozens of PML-N office-bearers and hundreds of party workers from all over the district thronged Malik Hanif Awan’s office at Sara-e-Alamgir to express their solidarity with him. On the occasion, dozens of prominent political figures and party office-bearers also announced their resignation from their respective party offices.

They included PML-N senior district vice president Furukh Majeed, vice president Raja Shabbir Lehari, tehsil Kharian president Jaffar Iqbal, secretary general Malik Mazher Awan, tehsil president Malik Amjad Awan, secretary general Ali Asghar, market committee administrator Malik Touqeer Tipu, Syed Tauseef Haider, Rasheed Anjum, Khalil Haider and Khursheed Anwar.

They maintained that they have resigned from their party offices and not from the PML-N to protest and express solidarity with Malik Hanif who, they claimed, kept the PML-N alive and strengthened it in the district during Musharraf regime.

“Malik did not lose heart and kept organising the party and strengthened it. His services are unforgettable and we all are with him,” they pledged. Hanif had tendered his resignation and said that the old party workers including him were being ignored whereas the new comers being given importance by the party leadership.
