LAHORE – District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noor-ul-Amin Mengal has directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) to make all out efforts for solving problems of the people during heavy rains.

The DCO directed that special attention be paid to low-lying areas of the City. He also took notice of an incident whereby a child fell into a drain near Moon Market, and directed Wasa to make suitable arrangements for avoiding such incidents in future.

The DCO further directed that urgent steps be taken for drainage of water from roads and streets during and after the rains. He warned that strict action would be taken against negligent officers.

Meanwhile, during his visit to Tajpura Ramazan Bazaar on Sunday, DCO Noor-ul-Amin Mengal directed administrators of Ramazan Bazaars to meet the shortage of tomatoes and bring down the price of the vegetable.

The DCO checked the quality and prices of eatables and expressed his satisfaction. Speaking on the occasion, he appealed to the public to call on the free helpline of the City District Government Lahore (CDGL) if they had any complaint regarding prices or quality of eatables in Ramazan Bazaars. The DCO said 946 shopkeepers had been fined up to Rs1.5 million on violation of the price act.

Also, DCO Noor-ul-Amin Mengal took notice of the death of a 6-year old boy from electric current at Ravi Road, and directed Lesco to arrange intense security of electric poles and wires.
