KARACHI  - Sindh Inspector General Fayaz Ahmed Leghari has ordered the senior officers to ensure foolproof security especially on youm-e-Ali, falling on 21st of Ramazanul Mubark.
According to an official statement here on Sunday, the IGP directed that while preparing the security plan-strategy, the role of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) and of other intelligence agencies must be taken into account to make the security arrangements more effective.
He directed that the police officers and the police staff deployed on security duty must be properly equipped with modern arms, and that they should be duly briefed about their presence at certain points and the security task given to them.
He asked that very practical security measures be taken including using the services of bomb disposal squad to provide security to the rallies on youm-e-Ali.
He also ordered that check posts be set up at entry points of the main cities and important places of the province and snap checking be done besides deployment of police personnel at mosques and imambargahs.
The Inspector General Police directed that on the eve of youm-e-Ali, a traffic diversion plan be made to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General Police (Traffic) Khurram Gulzar has advised the owners of the vehicles who will participate in Youm-e-Ali procession to get stickers of their vehicles.
The procession will be taken out from Nishter Park to Hussainian Iranian Imam Bargah Kharadar on August 10 (21st Ramazan-ul-Mubarak), an official press release issued here Sunday said.
The stickers will also be issued from August 7 to 9 from office of the DIGP/Traffic Karachi (Traffic Security Branch) Police Headquarters Garden, Aga Khan-III Road, Karachi to government Offices, Media and Ambulances.
Furthermore, Scouts, Social Welfare Organization, Sabils, Nazar and Niaz distributing vehicles should submit their application forms along with attested photocopies of documents (CNIC, Licence, Registration Book etc) at Scouts Rabta Council Office at Numaish (Contact No. 0213- 5499955) from August 4 to 7 and get their stickers from office of the DIGP/Traffic Karachi (Traffic Security Branch) Police Headquarters Garden, Aga Khan-III Road, Karachi from August 7 to 9.
It should be noted that no stickers will be issued to any vehicle except ambulance, scouts, social welfare organization, sabils, nazar and niaz distributing vehicles or to any other emergency vehicles.
