LAHORE - The national selectors are scheduled to meet on Tuesday (tomorrow) to finalise the one-day team for the series against Australia to be played in United Arab Emirates (UAE) from August 28, it has been learnt.

The team will be finalised on August 8 after the arrival of head coach Dav Whatmore, who is on vacations and presently in Australia with his family.

The team will be selected with the consent of the captain, coach and selectors and will be submitted to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Zaka Ashraf for his approval, after his return from the United States where he has gone on vacations.

A well-placed source revealed that the inclusion of discarded middle order batsman Yasir Hameed is on the cards as selectors backing him for a place in the national squad. Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal will also be included in the one-day format along with all-rounder Abdul Razzaq who has been included in the World Twenty20 Pakistan squad.

The source also said that Junaid Khan is likely to make his place in the one-day team as he was not selected in the Twenty20 squad after media reports that he was dropped by Hafeez and Whatmore as the two opposed his selection despite his good performances in the recently-concluded Sri Lanka series.

On the other hand, as many as 13 players will participate in the Sri Lankan Premier League so the PCB has not arranged the Pakistan team camp for the upcoming Australia series, the source said adding the players participation in the SLPL will prove beneficial for the UAE series.

There is a possibility that Shahid Khan Afridi may be recalled in the one day team and Ahmed Shahzad may be included while Misbahul Haq is likely to lead the one-day squad, the source concluded.
