KARACHI  - Federal ministers Syed Naveed Qamar and Farooq H Naek on Sunday called on Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi and discussed with him the law and order situation in Balochistan.

Held at the Balochistan House, the meeting also discussed further steps needed to improve law and order situation in the province.

Talking to media after the meeting, Naveed Qamar said that on the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, he and his other Cabinet colleagues were busy in interacting with all those Balochistan leaders, who were pro-Pakistan and talk of a united and prosperous country. Besides, he said, the federal government had taken the Balochistan government on board before taking any important decision about the province.  He said that the meeting also discussed the impact of Balochistan package, and of other political and administrative measures taken so far by the present PPP-led government.

“The federal government and Pakistan People’s Party fully realised the gravity of Balochistan situation. That is why all possible steps were being taken to improve the situation which included Balochistan package.”

He said that after taking all stakeholders into confidence and getting their feedback, the Federal Cabinet, in its next meeting on Balochistan, would come up with more important policy decisions and incentives for Balochistan people.

He emphasized that all the provincial and the federal governments should work seriously and sincerely to improve Balochistan situation in the interest of the country and the people of Balochistan.

To a question, he said that there were evidence of foreign hand behind Balochistan situation.

Qamar meets Qaim: Defence Minister Syed Naveed Qamar on Sunday called on Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the Chief Minister House here.

They exchanged views on prevailing political situation and other issues of mutual interest, said a press release issued here.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Chief Minister attended an Iftar party hosted by Federal Minister for Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain.

Federal ministers Dr Farooq Sattar and Babar Ghauri, provincial ministers Sharjeel Memon, Dr Saghir Ahmed, Dr Muhammad Ali Shah and Rafiq Engineer, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Rashid Rabbani, Waqar Mehdi and other dignitaries attended the party.

Meanwhile, Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla has taken serious notice of illegal sale and purchase of poisonous liquor in Karachi and directed officers of Excise Department to take stern actions against those who are involved in this heinous crime.

On the special directives of the minister, teams raided in different parts of the City and arrested six accused and recovered 226 litres illicit liquor and 30 plastic bottles of liquor from their possession.

According to details, Excise and Taxation Department teams raided in Godhra, Al-Falah Masjid Chenasar Ghoth, Parsi gate Mehmodabad, Mangophir Road, Esa Nagri and FC area and recovered 120 litres liquor from accused Adnan, 234 bottles from Raheel, 30 plastic bottles of liquor from Muhammad Fayaz, 30 litres liquor from Muhammad wakas, 32 bottles liquor from Qasim Habib and 20 bottles from Muhammad Nouman. Cases have been lodged against the accused and investigations are in progress.
