SWAT - Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has accepted the responsibility for ambush on Haji Zahid Khan, who was an active member of Swat Qaumi Jirga.

Al-Haj Zahid Khan, who was an active member of the Swat Qaumi Jirga and also president of the Swat Hotels Association, was coming back home near Mingora General Bus Stand after offering Taraveeh prayer in the nearby mosque when unidentified persons opened fire on him. Resultantly, he got wounded critically. He is reported to have received bullets in head.

Talking to media from an unknown location, Sirajuddin, spokesperson of Tehreek-e-Taliban Malakand division said that they carried out the attack on Zahid Khan, as he has always been opposed to the Tehreek.  “The TTP intends to carry out similar attacks on members of the Swat Quami Jirga and all those who are anti Taliban and pro army”, he added.

In a statement ISPR Malakand spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Arif Mehmood has said that Pakistan Army condemned such a brutal terrorists attack.

Army can never forget the members of SQJ who’s raised their voice against the militants during the Taliban era in Swat. Pak Army will never allow anyone to disturb the peace of the area owing to great sacrifices by carrying out such heinous act, he added. He said that Security forces and Police are conducting search operation in order to apprehend the culprits.
