Religious leaders, journalists, politicians, lawyers and business tycoons expressed deep sorrow and condolence over the sad demise of The Nation Editor-in-Chief Dr Majid Nizami.

A condolence meeting was attended among others by MNA Rana Shameem Ahmad Khan, MPA Ch Arshad Javaid Warraich, DCO Sialkot Nadeem Sarwar, Assistant Commissioner Malik Munwar Hassan, TMO Syed Asad Hussain, TO Rauf Ashraf Warraich, Muhammad Sarwar, Ch Safdar, Imran Sial, Amir Butt, Junaid Aftab, Rasheed, Dr Shamas, Nawai-i-Waqt Columnist Umar Nawaz.

They said, “The legend always raised the voice against the cruel rulers and anti-poor policies. He had sympathy for the Muslim Ummah. Mr Nizami was a truly patriotic Pakistani.”

MNA Javaid Hashmi, Umar Dar, Haroon Zia of PTI shed light on different aspects of his professional and public life. They said that he was considered an academy in his own person, who inspired a large class of professionals.

In Attock, State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad said that with the death of Mr Nizami, the media had lost a staunch and consistent fighter for press freedom and democratic rights. He remarked that Dr Majid Nizami was the finest and classic example of editorship in the history of journalism and with his death the golden chapter of the editorship had closed in the country.

MNA Malik Aetbar Khan said that Dr Majid Nizami was the torch-bearer of Pakistan ideology and he rendered meritorious services to keep the spirit of the Pakistan Movement up among the nation.

Former State Minister Malik Amin Aslam said that Dr Majid Nizami was a patriot and a tireless campaigner to uphold the Islamic ideology of Pakistan. He remained fearless in his struggle and would always be remembered for boldly speaking inconvenient truth even in adverse circumstances.

PTI MPA Ejaz Bokhari paid tributes to Majid Nizami and said that deceased was an upright person, who never compromised on principles. He was critical of everything harmful to the country. He was embodiment of Pakistan and love for Islam.

Provincial Minister Col(r) Shuja Khanzada said that Nizami was unyielding before the tyrant rulers. He was standard bearer of Pakistan Ideology and rendered meritorious services to keep the spirit of Pakistan Movement up among the nation.

Meanwhile, a condolence reference was held in Attock under the auspices of Central Union of Journalists. CUJ Chairman Rana Shoukat paid rich tributes to Mr Majid Nizami.

Senior journalists Muhammad Sabrin, Dr Sohail Ahmed, Qazi Shoaib and others attended the meeting. They paid rich tributes to Majid Nizami. They lauded the services and professional acumen of Dr Majid Nizami to sustain democracy and set up high norms in the field of journalism.

They said that Nizami was torch bearer of independent journalism. He faced three dictators and spoke truth before tyrannical rulers fearlessly. They said that Mr Nizami’s unflinching commitment to ideology of Pakistan was remarkable. In the end, they offered fateha for the departed soul and prayed to Almighty Allah for resting his soul in peace.
