ISLAMABAD- Electricity shortfall across the country peaked 4,800MW today. Power generation was recorded at 14,800MW while demand remained a staggering 19,600MW.

Rawalpindi and Islamabad are facing power cuts every alternate hour while other cities are facing 14 to 16 hours of load shedding. Still worse are the rural areas, suffering from 16 to 18 hours of load shedding amid the hot and humid weather.

On the other hand, there is no electricity for the last fifty hours in Mohalla Qureshi Abad, near Rawalpindi's Girja Road. Power supply was suspended on Monday due to a fault in the transformer. Continuous power outage has also caused water shortage in the area.
