WAZIRABAD

The PML-N district office has extended date for distribution of forms for award of party tickets in the upcoming local government elections.

The local government elections in Punjab are due to take place on September 20 under the Supreme Court order.

49 candidates from 35 wards of Wazirabad Municipal Committee and 52 from 26 Union Councils have submitted forms for award the PML-N tickets for general council and 11 pairs of Chairman and Vice chairman seeking ticket in Tehsil Wazirabad.

On the other hands, PML-J, PTI and JI are planning to field joint candidates in all wards and UCs. As per details, Wazirabad, Gakkhar Mandi and Alipur Chattha were given status of Municipal Committee after which number of UCs converted from 36 to 26.

Two UCs of Alipur Chattha has been replaced to 12 wards, 18 wards has taken place of 3 UCs of Gakkhar Mandi where as 5 UCs of Wazirabad Town has been replaced to 35 wards.

49 candidates from 35 wards of Wazirabad, 10 from Gakkhar Mandi, 10 from Alipur Chattha and 52 candidates from 26 UCs submitted forms for award the PML-N tickets for general council, 11 pairs out of 26 UCs applied for the ticket of chairman and vice chairman seats so far.

The PML-N district body head by Mustansa Ali Gondal will decide to awards the party tickets to suitable candidates. On the other hand, PML-J, PTI and JI are planning to field joint candidates.
