LAHORE: The Punjab capital received scattered rains on Wednesday, providing much needed respite to the people from the prevailing muggy weather.

After a hot and humid morning, strong winds started blowing in the city followed by scattered rains. Overcast conditions, winds and rains made the weather pleasant. The relief, however, was short lived as abundance of sunshine after stoppage of rains caused increase in the mercury level with high humidity again making the weather muggy, causing people to sweat profusely.

Maximum and minimum temperature in Lahore was recorded 35 degree Celsius and 26C respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 85 per cent.

Experts say seasonal low lies over north Balochistan with its trough extending eastwards. Weak monsoon currents are penetrating into northeastern parts of the country, they add.

Local meteorological department has forecast partly cloudy weather with chances of scattered rains for Lahore during the next couple of days. Met office has forecast rain-thundershower at isolated places in Gujranwala, Lahore, Hazara, Rawalpindi divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Hot and Humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.
